Eddie was a 1991 graduate of RFHS, earning varsity letters in baseball, basketball, cross-country and football. During those high school years Eddie was a First-team NCIC performer in both baseball and basketball.

Eddie was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers after his senior year but opted to attend Muscatine Community College in Iowa where after two successful seasons the Milwaukee Brewers drafted him. Eddie then played two seasons in the Brewers farm system before signing with the Montreal Expos as a free agent and playing three more years before retiring.
